Our Story
مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا
From a shared dream to a home for the ummah
High Barnet Islamic Centre began in 2020 as Darul Noor — built by the community, for the community.
In 2020, a group of believers in High Barnet set out to create something lasting: a place where the adhān could be called, children could learn their dīn, and neighbours of every background could find welcome. That dream became Darul Noor — the House of Light.
Today, as the High Barnet Islamic Centre, we open our doors for five daily prayers and Jumuʿah, run a thriving madrasah, and host everything from sports and homework clubs to safeguarding courses and community dinners. The masjid was made possible through interest-free Qard al-Ḥasana loans — and completing that journey to being debt-free is our community's shared responsibility.
We are a registered charity (No. 1190170), run by volunteers and sustained entirely by the generosity of those who pray here. Everyone is welcome, whether it is your first time in a masjid or your local jamāʿah for years to come.
